Could you please tell us more about yourself, your role in Minterest and what is Minterest. Thank you!

자기소개와 민터레스트에서의 역할이 무엇이신지, 그리고 민터레스트에 대해 설명해주실 수 있을까요?

Brief is always something I struggle with :-) but here goes.

My background in startups goes back 25 years to the mid nineties, with the world’s first full point-to-point IP telco, then a publicly listed Australian content platform in early 2000s which undertook the first monetisation of Big Brother content with BB2, and then advisory / digital business focusing on marketplaces in Japan and China developing out global models.

I was a founding shareholder and advisor of Freelancer.com, the world’s largest freelancing marketplace, and also a founding director, shareholder and mentor to the CEO of a business now named HeyYou, which became Australia’s largest cafe app. 

Additionally I’ve advised a large portfolio of startups I’ve invested in for more than a decade.

ON MINTEREST

Minterest is the most capital efficient lending protocol which can provide the greatest long term returns in DeFi to its users. It is being released on Moonbeam in the Polkadot ecosystem at the end of March 2022

The MNT token is designed so it is linked to the performance of the protocol. As the protocol grows liquidity, Minterest captures value from fees, and then uses that value to buy back MNT on-market which it distributes back to Minterest users who stake MNT in governance processes.

This ensures the fairest approach to DeFi we have seen to date.

Minterest is designed to capture more value due to a number of innovations

The First Innovation is its auto liquidation engine. Traditionally about 40% of the value on lending protocols is lost due to liquidations by third parties. Minterest is its own liquidator and is able to capture this value as a result.

The Second Innovation is its buyback engine, as hinted at above. Minterest is designed to be a major purchaser of its own token, MNT. The more liquidity on Minterest, the greater the fees it can collect, which leads to its ability to buy back more MNT tokens on-market, hence driving up the APY value for MNT staked. It’s what is known as a flywheel effect because liquidity supports MNT value and increasing MNT value supports the attraction of further liquidity. This happens because MNT’s pricing directly impacts the APY of lenders and borrowers.

The Third Innovation is Minterest NFTs. These are not simply beautiful-looking NFTs, they have a real use case which increases APY up to 50% for liquidity providers who hold them. There are only a maximum of 3000 NFTs, and the only way to currently earn them is to participate in the Minterest public offering, held between February 8-1o. Top net-buyers will be rewarded with an NFT. The higher the rank on the leaderboard, the greater the APY potential of the NFT earned.

Can you talk about the Minterest NFTs that actually generate APY boosts on Minterest

Of course. The Minterest NFTs are celebrating the top 100 most influential in blockchain. As mentioned there are 3000 NFTs which are potentially available across 12 levels of rarity. So first check out an example of the artwork for Level 1 - Satoshi. It’s awesome.

The Minterest NFTs are a core part of the Minterest protocol and they aren’t just for show either. There are two key benefits to holding a Minterest NFT:

NFTs provide up to a 50% boost in MNT emissions for providing liquidity on Minterest during its public launch in Q2

NFTs provide key card type access to the Minterest Private Launch in March where there will be limited participants. As a result the ability to yield farm MNT is expected to be super-high, possibly in the 300-500% APY range. 
The NFTs encourage long-term participation of liquidity providers (LPs) on Minterest.

We’re really excited as it’s been a long road to get here. We are conducting an LBP in order to fund the Treasury for the Minterest protocol. 

LBP stands for Liquidity Bootstrapping Pool. It is a form of a reverse dutch auction which for Minterest will run for 48 hours.

The purpose of the LBP is to allow for price discovery, as the price is actually variable throughout the auction and adjusts in real time based on demand.  Let me illustrate with an example from another project, GR

There are 3 key advantages for participating in the Minterest LBP from today. 

Availability to Public
It is the first time that the public can get access to the MNT token

Liquid Token that can earn large yield 
All previous institutional rounds have a 1 year vesting period on their MNT. Tokens earned in the LBP will be fully liquid on Moonbeam at the time the Minterest protocol launches.  
Why is that important? 
Because these tokens can be staked in the Minterest protocol from day 1, with potentially super-high APYs 

NFTs

Yes. The LBP is an event, not just an auction for us.  It is where someone will earn the coveted Satoshi NFT which provides a 50% boost in MNT rewards, along with 300 other APY boosting NFTs. 

The leaderboard tracks net buys in USDC. Based on your rank on the leaderboard you’ll earn one of these NFTs if you’re in the top 300. 

You know, we have our private investors excited to participate and they keep asking us how much it’ll take to earn the Satoshi! It’s amazing to see the interest.

When will the MNT tokens in the LBP be available to use?

So the tokens earned in the LBP will be locked after the event. Right after Minterest launches on Moonbeam at the end of March we will airdrop the same number of tokens to users into the same wallet addresses on the Moonbeam network, fully unlocked.

LBP를 통해 얻은 토큰들은 옥션 직후 잠겨있게 됩니다. 이후 민터레스트가 문빔에서 3월말쯤 출시할때 각 지갑에 든 민터레스트 토큰과 동일한 수량의 민터레스트 토큰을 문빔네트워크에 있는 같은 주소의 지갑에 드랍해드리고, 이는 100% 언락 되어 있을겁니다.

Q1. 

Since NFT affects Minterest's profits, those who do not receive it may feel unreasonable. I wonder what you think about this.

NFT가 민터레스트 상의 수익에 영향을 끼치는데, 그러면 반대로 NFT가 없는 사용자들의 경우 이를 불공정하다고 느낄 수 있습니다. 어떻게 생각하시는지 궁금합니다.

A great question but the answer is this does not happen. Emissions boosts earned by NFT holders come from a separate pool than standard emissions. It means NFT emissions are ring-fenced and non-predatory of all other users and was specifically designed this way to ensure users without NFTs did not lose out in any way.

좋은 질문이지만 해당사항 없는 얘기라고 생각됩니다. NFT홀더들이 얻는 증폭이자는 일반유저들이 받을 풀과는 다른 풀에서 진행됩니다. 이 방법을 통해 NFT가 없는 유저들이 NFT가 있는 유저들에 의해 이자를 덜 받을 일은 없게 됩니다.

What is the ultimate vision that Minterest is trying to achieve within the cryptocurrencies market? Obviously the whole space will experience huge growth in the upcoming years, but what role would you like your project to play in this?

We think the exciting and extraordinary opportunity is for Minterest to be a leader in bringing DeFi to the general user in the world with a fairer, more transparent and more trusted financial offering. It’s an exciting time for DeFi but also very early in its development and Minterest’s design is intended to ensure it plays a valuable and meaningful part in both crypto’s and DeFi’s evolution.

다들 알다시피 빨리 가고 싶으면 혼자 가지만, 멀리 가고 싶을땐 동료와 함께 떠나야 합니다. 민터레스트는 어떤 동료(파트너)와 함께 프로젝트를 만들어 나가고 프로젝트가 목표하는 것들을 이룰것인가요?

You are absolutely right, partners make a project.

Minterest has announced partnerships with Moonbeam, a major parachain project on Polkadot. Minterest's relationship with Moonbeam is very solid with the protocol's launch being a key element in bringing new liquidity onto the Moonbeam network.

We have also announced our pricing oracle partnership with Chainlink, the biggest and most experienced in crypto, plus David Post, Chainlink's Managing Director is a key advisor to Minterest and someone whom I work with every week.

We will be announcing very shortly other substantial key partnerships.

These will include those of our 3 auditors who are each recognised as leaders in DeFi security plus NFT marketplaces plus a range of other partners working with us on cross-chain architecture solutions.

There’s a lot in the pipeline and our partner relationships are a big part of what Minterest is about.
